Forrestania Nickle Mine was one of the first mine sites that Major Security Services was contracted to provide security. The mine site is located in Hyden, approximately one hour flying time from Perth. The contract was awarded to Major Security Services by GR Engineering (181 Great Eastern Highway, Belmont, WA).

The security officer was required to secure the mine site between 1800 to 0600. Duties involved 2 hourly foot patrols of the entire facility and spot checks of various locations on the mine. The security officer was required to keep a full log of the duties performed during the course of the night shift. The security officers underwent full medicals and drug and alcohol testing.
